Korean-American actor Ki Hong Lee and singer songwriter David Choi were among the few social media stars who graced Click Play fest last November 22, 2015 at SMX convention center. The said event is a gathering of SNS (Social networking sites) stars, an event produced by Karpos Multimedia. You tube sensations Cimorelli and Ryan Higa as well as Vine duo Sam and Colby were also present at the event.
Deafening screams by thousands of fans filled the SMX convention center when the Maze runner actor Ki Hong Lee stepped on the stage. Lee appeared on stage holding his phone and a selfie stick which according to him was given by a fan. He took a photo with the crowd and promised that he will post it on his instagram account. On his interview with Sam Oh he said that they will probably start shooting the next installment of The Maze Runner next year. When asked who were the characters on the movie that he ships? He answered Thomas and Minho. A lucky fan then was picked to play a game with Lee on stage. Though she was lost, Lee gave him all the prizes that he promised if she will win the game. Such a generous gentleman!
David Choi melted every clicker’s heart with his soothing voice when he sang the songs “All I need”, “Missing piece”, “That girl” and “Can’t take this away”. Choi shared his experiences from his previous visits in the Philippines. He said that he was able to eat balut, a famous Filipino street food. Prior to the event, they went to Bohol to relax before heading to Manila. Choi was asked random questions by the fans via twitter. Choi also shared that he used to play violin and piano when he was a child and he hated it. He was sixteen years old when he started to write songs. According to him, he likes to write songs about his life and that he dreams of collaborating with Stevie Wonder. He then picked a fan and asked her to come on stage. “By my side” was the song that he sang for the fan who was lucky enough to be hugged and kiss by David Choi. His encore song was “This one’s for me”.
Gone are those days when celebrities are only seen on TV or on the big screen. As Ki Hong Lee shared, “Do what makes you happy, pick something that you are passionate about and work hard for it” and with the help of smart phone apps and the social media, who knows? You might be next internet superstar!
